How did you start learning music yourself? And how old were you?
I took up learning music and piano at age 8 , then later took up trumpet and singing at age 12 , inspired to write songs so I took up guitar and harmonica at age 16 and later performed in all High school concert bands and musicals.

If you could learn to play another instrument, what would it be?
What do you want your students to know about music education or learning an instrument?
The different genres the instrument is used in and the different sounds you can make out of one instrument is fascinating and it is always great to show people the diversity of such an instrument as Trumpet or brass . Music can be fun and it is always rewarding to explore the fun aspects of education to make it a healthy, long lasting and enjoyable passion for the students throughout their life.
It is also to the benefit of the students to engage in group activities such as brass bands, jazz groups , trios, big bands, etc and explore the social aspects that can last throughout their musical journey and life.
Something your favourite music teacher said to you that has stuck.
“You know how to reach for those high notes Mark.”
What's the best thing about playing your instrument/s?
Being able to share the song or experience with others and bring life, happiness and joy to many people across all ages.
